Mail & Post Offices
Phuket City’s postal code is 83000. However, there are several variations for the different districts and sub-districts of the island. Patong is 83150, while Kata and Karon are 83100. Other sub-districts have variations all starting with 83.
Stamps can be purchased from convenience stores, hotel receptions and the Post Office. It usually takes about a week for a regular letter to reach Europe or the USA.
EMS
It is not recommended to send important or high value items via the normal post. Important mail should be sent by EMS (Express Mail Service). Delivery is recorded and is also much faster than ordinary mail. The fee is slightly higher but is well worth the extra cost. Parcels must be wrapped in the approved packaging which can be done at the Post Office.
Poste Restante
A poste restante service is available at the Post Office. You will need to bring along your passport when collecting your mail and there is a small fee.
